Battlefield Bad Company for the Xbox 360 was the first game of the Battlefield series to introduce a totally new and destructible environment to the games and is also the first of the less serious game feel. Bad Company also has an awesome new selection of weapons and vehicles never before seen that is very well balanced throughout the game.
What's the Gameplay?
The game originally came out with a different game play type based on defending and attacking gold crates throughout the map. The defending team would have to keep the attacking team from destroying the crates for the time of the round. As well, the attacking team is trying to blow up the crates and cut off the other team.
The gold crate gameplay introduces a totally new approach in tactics to players by requiring teamwork and strategy to achieve the teams objective.
Attacking Team
The attacking team must work together to destroy the gold crates located at different areas throughout the map. As they destroy the crates they can spawn closer and closer allowing them to apply more pressure to the defenses.
Defending Team
The defending team must do all that is possible to stop the attacking team from destroying these crates. If they can hold them off for the time of the round then they will win that round.
Gold crates are usually located in buildings near spawn areas of the defense. So it takes some teamwork and tactics to get close enough to blow them up. You can destroy them from heavy gunfire, explosives, grenade launchers, etc. The gold crates have a detonation you can activate on each to destroy them. This puts out an alarm which will draw the defenses in to stop your attack.
Vehicles / Transportation
It is very easy to get around in Bad Company. You can make your way in a buggy or an attack helicopter. It might be a good idea to take a wrench with you when you travel however, as there are usually those out to destroy your ride on your way.
EA Games released the conquest mode for BC not too soon after the game's release. This no longer includes the gold crates, and players can engage in direct combat with the enemy team just like other Battlefield games.
Personal Thoughts
I thought the game was cool because it has a different tone to it than other Battlefield games. The "bad company" idea makes it feel more on the funny side and you see this a lot in the single player mode. Overall, I liked the game.
