Battlefield 2 is a first-person shooting game. It was released by Digital Illusions CE (DICE) company. It showed up in 2005 July 21 in United States, July 22 in Australia and July 24 it showed in whole Europe. Game was published by one of the biggest game publisher - Electronic Arts (EA). This was the third game in Battlefield games series. At first, Battlefield 1942 and Battlefield Vietnam was taken to the day light.
Gameplay hasn\\\'t changed a lot, but it did in some ways to compare with first 2 parts of Battlefield series. The main idea of the game is LAN and Internet(online) game opportunity, which let you to play with other player all over the world. This was also the main niche of game creator. Whatever it be, game also contains a single player function, which allows you to play with computer bots in 3 difficulty levels - easy, normal and hard.
While playing in multi-player mode, you can play up to 64 players, but you can\\\'t choose more than 16 players map in single-player mode. To play medium or large maps in single-player game, instead of max 16 players (small map), you need to download AI bots modes, which allows you to choose all game maps in both of modes - single-player and multi-player. The number of player you can play with depends on the game map and it\\\'s size. There are 3 types of maps. 1st(small) type allows you to play up to 16 players, 2nd(medium) - up to 32 players and 3rd(large) - up to 64 players.
Maps is different not only in size and number of players opportunity, it also contains different number of vehicles and control points. But it also doesn\\\'t means that bigger map allows you to choose from more vehicles.
Characters classes
Like previous Battlefield series games, Battlefield 2 also contains RPG, strategy and tactics elements. Players are able to choose the type of characters and nation they want to play with. That means that Battlefield 2 also contains class system, which has 7 different classes of characters.
Anti-Tank
Sprint: Short
Armor: Heavy
Primary weapon: Rocket Launcher
Secondary weapon: Shotgun/Submachine gun
Kit: Knife
Like the name of class says, it\\\'s supposed to be used against vetches. With help of rocket launcher, soldier of this class can easily destroy any vehicle they see on their way. Whatever it be, not all vehicles can be destroyed by 1 rocket. Also, it\\\'s really hard to take a good target, while players are flying over your head with various types of planes. So player need to be pretty good and experienced to play this class.
Assault

Secondary weapon: Grenade-Launcher, Pistol
Kit: Knife, Smoke Grenade
Assault is the class for brave players, because players are supposed to start combats while playing this class. Assault-Rifles is pretty accuracy weapon, which helps you to start battle at both distances - short and long. This class also has Granade-Launcher, which should be used against vehicles, but not against single, high speed units, such as Medic class characters.
Medic

Kit: Knife, Hand Grenades, Medic Bag, Defibrillator
Medic isn\\\'t strong fighting opportunity in mass combats even with Assault-Rifle, because it\\\'s much weaker and less accucuareated than Assault class primary weapon. Players of this class should hide over the corner and run towars just when someone is hurt or even dead. The main role of medic is healing and reviving. With help of his medic bag, he can restore hit-points(HP) of nearby teammates. Also, he can even revive critical wounded teammates with his defibrillator. Whatever it be, Medic can heal, but can\\\'t revive themselves.
Engineer

Kit: Knife, Hand Grenades, Mine, Wrench
Engineer, like Medic, isn\\\'t supposed to fight in mass combats. If Medic can heal people, Engineer can repair vehicles. But it take pretty much time until Engineer fix the vehicle, to compare with Medic, which heals teammates immediately. Another opportunity for Engineer class players is mines. Engineer can destroy vehicle only with 1 mine and that makes Engineer even more attractive to players. Moreover, mines are really hard to see so players don\\\'t even see them on their road most of the time.
Sniper

Primary weapon: Sniper-Rifle

Kit: Knife, Hand Grenades, Claymore
Sniper is the class for players, who like to take their advantage in battle, while being in perimeter of it. His primary weapon - Sniper-Rifle - allows him to kill individual target by one hit. Although, you need to take target exactly at the chest or head to kill it instantly, in other way, he\\\'ll be hit and bleeding, but not dead. Moreover, this class hasn\\\'t any short distance weapons, except pistol, so it\\\'s very weak in short distance combats. Moreover, sniper isn\\\'t as weak against vehicles, as he is against short distance specialists, like Assault class characters. Vehicles can\\\'t get easily near Sniper class players, because of it\\\'s claymore. Claymore is mine, which can destroy any vehicle just in one use.
Spec-Ops

Kit: Knife, Hand Grenades, C4
Spec-Ops class are special and useful, not because they have pretty accuracy weapon, not because they are very fast, but because they have very useful weapon - C4 bombs. These can be placed and blow by remote control, which also make c4 even better. With C4 you can blow up enemies tanks and light vehicles. Also, C4 is useful because it\\\'s the only weapon in the whole game, which can destroy enemies\\\'s objects.
Support

Kit: Knife, Hand Grenades, Ammo Bag
The class name says everything you need to know. Almost everything. This supportive class is most used and most known because of it\\\'s ammo bags. Some classes don\\\'t have many ammo for their special weapon, for example Anti-tank don\\\'t have many of rockets in the bag, as Assault don\\\'t have many of it\\\'s grenades in the launcher. And here goes Support! It can easily restore all of yourammo by throwing a ammo bad near you feet. Also, be sure that Support class characters can also support themselves.
Vehicles
Vehicles, like characters in Battlefield 2 are also grouped in a classes. Vehicles contains 6 different classes: Armor, Aviator, Air Defense, Helicopter, Transport and Ground Defense. Every class have their own purposes and their own uses in battle.
Armor
Vehicles of this class is very armored, simple tanks. The main purpose of these tanks is to defend a character, which is inside it. Heavy armor and good armament let you to do both things in a good shape - attack and defend. Whatever it be, these advantages makes armor class tanks pretty slow and limits their mobility.
Air Defense
This class also contains ground-used vehicles, but the main difference from armor type tanks is that Air Defense is supposed to fight against the air vehicles, as the name of class says. Air Defense vehicles contains some rocket launchers and very powerful machine guns. Also, class contains not only mobile vehicles, it also has stationary anti-air defense system, which can be used by any player in the game.
Transport
There is nothing much to say about this class. Vehicles of this class are used to transport people. But because of it\\\'s very high speed. One more thing - transport vehicles are on the sea too and it also can reach very high speed.
Ground Defense
The main difference to compare with Air Defense class vehicles is that Ground Defense have no mobile tanks, it contains only neutral and stationary defensive system. There is only 3 different stationary vehicles in this class: Mounted Stationary Guns, HJ-8 and TOW.
Aviator
This is one of two classes in the game, which contains flying vehicles. This class planes are highly maneuverable, so it\\\'s very hard to take a good target to this class planes. Aviators can attack both - ground and air, but it\\\'s primary purpose is to attack other aircraft planes. But it also can attack ground bydropping bombs.
Helicopter
One of the best vehicles in the game. It has missiles launcher and machines guns and with both of them you can attack ground and air. Also, it is highly maneuverable, as Aviator is, but it isn\\\'t so fast and that means people can take pretty good target at this class vehicles.
Last word
Game was really good when it was released, but it isn\\\'t at the moment. Why ? Because there were published some Mods of the game, which is more popular than Battlefield 2 is at the moment. Also, there is 4 more Battlefield series games, which is going to be released in 2009. About all of them I\\\'ll write later. But if you really want to buy and try this game, the price is about 10.00 dollars.
